Mysteries of Life:

Life is full of mysteries, The Marie Celeste, found abandoned on the high seas, with food on the table ready for eating yet no-one onboard the vessel. The wondrous patterns formed on the earth that can only be seen from thousands of feet in the air, yet made by ancient mankind. Lord Lucan, the peer that vanished after a horrible murder. The last one unsolved despite the many so called sightings of the man.
We at the SLN offices also have our own mystery, one that was supposedly a straight forward suicide of a colleague and friend last year. Distraught with grief and anger, many believed he jumped from his island home, into the sea and drowned as a broken man. Indeed a note found on the beach stated he could no longer continue.
There are rumours, however, that sightings of a man very similar in appearance to our ‘late’ friend have been reported. Odd glimpses at strange times of the night. Imagination perhaps of minds remembering a man, wishful thinking on the part of people hoping to put a close to the odd events of last year? Maybe, who knows?
An envelope was found on the reception desk, no note enclosed, just a pair of photographs that pertain to be of our journalist friend.
This reporter will endeavour to trace all those who may have seen, or thought they have seen Baron DeSantis and will place what he is told in print, to let you, the readers make up your own minds.
Is the Baron really gone from this realm or is there some substance to these strange reports?

New reporters and new blood?

Yesterday I introduced you to Lizzy whose first story you can find in the people section, today I would like to introduce 2 more new members of the SLN crew:
Christina can be found in the PEOPLE section and she will be helping newbies to find their way in the complicated world of SL as well as exploring the grid herself:-

First Day
There have been so many things written about Newbie's, and there are so many help tips out there to help make things easier for your Second life. I don't want to do a repeat of what has already been done, but I will probably repeat some of the advice that experienced avatars have given you or will give you. I suppose I will start with giving some personal experience with my first days in this virtual world of Second Life and then I hope to give a weekly update as to what you can do as a newbie..............

If You Build It?
If there is one thing I've learned in my period in Second Life, it's that the saying "If you build it, they will come." is not always as true as it should be.
I'm sure most readers who enjoy exploration will have at some point stumbled across an awesome sim or location, only to find it completely f****** deserted, without even a tumbleweed to grace it's empty streets. (And for those readers who find the word f*** offensive. I would suggest you are perhaps reading the wrong section.) It was at one of these places my first adventure into the world of reporting began, at the Vampire Succubus Club.
But by now your asking yourself, "Who the hell are you? I came for Penance Sautereau's special brand of hotness. Why am I reading you instead? Has a band of ingenious hackers seized SL-NEWSPAPER.com? Has the very fabric or reality itself been torn asunder?" .......................

Let’s be honest here, all of us have been through the “Newbie” stage in Second Life. It’s a stage full of mixed emotions. You feel happy for being part of a new evolution in the game world. You feel confused because you have no idea what to do in the game. But, mainly, you feel excited as you learn to play and learn the tricks to survive in such a strange world. Survival! Yes, I never thought that would play such a great role in a game!

Reporter Arrested after fellow reporters article......

Bad Boy Baron Back Behind Bars, but is he guilty?
I can't say I was surprised this morning when my IMs stated Baron DeSantis has been arrested and charged with the murder of Mattt Guyot:

It was dawn when they came. 3 figures stormed the island and started zapping with tasers, my kid brother crumpled to a heap on the floor - there was no need for that - half asleep I was unsure what was happening and started defending myself and my family against the intruders, my shots were aimed at the TP point, I had to stop more from coming - who was invading? why??

They had gained the house and I realised they were officers I dropped my guns and immediately raised my hands, but it was no good the damage had been done, the Guards were making it personal now. They forced my hands behind my back and I felt a hand sliding up my leg, well that was too much I reacted by sneezing my head connected with a guards nose, I sneezed again OOOPPPPs blood gushed from another guard.
They finally overcame me and I was bundled to the blackened TP point. Not surprisingly I found myself back in Ghul Federal prison charged with Murder. I had been expecting it, especially after firehorse wrote about Mattts' disappearance, I just wish I could get in touch with him so I could prove my innocence.

Right now Baron has been placed in a secure padded cell since the guards are convinced he will try to harm himself, the cell is barely big enough to sit in, but it's for his own safety. He continues to state that Mattt is merely on holiday and for the rest he was just defending his family.
We will have to await further developments.

Breaking news - reporter arrested...........

We were settling in for a wonderful tea in the manor gardens the guests were starting to arrive I was looking forward to seeing Baron, as he had been away for some time, when suddenly in the employees group we got this message:

Baron DeSantis: Sorry folks.... have just been arrested and summoned to the Ghul Federal Prison for interrogation....

Reactions were immediate:

Gemma Cleanslate: good heavens

Breezes Babii: Baron how could you get so messed up?

dana Vanmoer: must be a mistake there is no truer gent in SL

Baron DeSantis: Sorry guys, but I am really in the **** have been arrested and now in an interview room, mind you the guard is cute :) OUCH

@&*.........

dana Vanmoer: oh no whats the charge?

Baron DeSantis: don't know yet eeek

Then later that evening we got more news from Baron:

Baron DeSantis: What the **** can someone get me a lawer!!

Baron DeSantis: OMG, they have stuck me in with a lunatic leather mmmmmmphhh

Baron DeSantis: Have been accused of exposing myself in a public urinal for Godssake...as if!!

Baron DeSantis: Anyone know a good lawer?

Not long after this conversation the Boss arrived and managed to get in to see Baron although not too sympathetic:

JamesT Juno: What happened?

Baron DeSantis: I .. AM.. IN.. PRISON for allegedly exposing myself in a george micheal fashion

JamesT Juno: How much do I have to pay to get you out?

Baron DeSantis: boss.. I did not do it!!

JamesT Juno: I know - but now stop crying - get a grip ! lets sort it out!

James managed to find out that if enough money was raised as a good will gesture to a charity then there was a good chance Baron would be released.

To help out please go to the main office at sunrise reef, out side the office, you will find an ACS (American Cancer Society) donation box - please donate whatever you can to help us get our reporter out! We only have a few days then we don't know what will happen (its rather worrying seeing 'the chair' in background behind the pictures that were sneaked to us) I hope he can hang in there, apparently there aren't even sinks in the cells just a toilet and a bed!
