New Release - Christopher Dallman's Never Was

Today Christopher Dallman release's a new EP, titled Never Was. It will be available on Christopher's website prior to release on iTunes, and there will be a special bonus track on the 'pre-release.' Never Was offers four songs, although buy now and you won't be disappointed! So I've listened to them all, and love it. Even stronger than his first album, which I loved and has kept me waiting for new music world a while! It starts out with Little Bit Of Blue, a sweet song about the realization some goals change as we grow older, and need to be revised. Ghosts is next, heard on the preview above. Coming Around is close to genius, at least to me. Dallman wrote a beautiful and uplifting song about a creative block and the breakthrough that followed. Finally, there is Has Been, a haunting story of self-doubt, while at the same time reaffirmation, with lyrics like:

And it just gets to me
You get what I mean?
That the best of me is still unseen

And finally, there is the hidden track. It doesn't show up until you paid for the music and begin the download. Had no clue, until I DL'ed it. Even then I said, 'Damn, it can't be that, can it?' Well, he did. And it is brilliant. It works so well with the other music. Dallman doesn't play games with it, doesn't make it all menacing, but instead showcases the lamenting pop song ...Baby One More Time is, and Ms. Spears didn't communicate. YouTube Video - Christopher Dallman

Christopher Dallman shared a picture which was taken as part of the No Hate Campaign. As you can see, Chris is looking great! He is the first celebrity to be photographed with a guitar. He is getting ready to release some new music any day now, and just posted a video of him singing a song from the first CD [that I love], Race The Light. The song is Nighttime In The City, and it is a gorgeous song.

Soundtrack Welcomes New Followers & News

This week Soundtrack to my Day has two more followers, and I would like to welcome them. I truly appreciate it when people go out of their way to make sure they are aware of the posts here.



James Johnson joined up recently. If I follow the links properly, James is an aspiring Christian rocker. To find out more about James and his music, click here. However, I didn't find a picture of him, but here is a link to his profile.



Thankfully, the same cannot be said for Mauro Paim, a handsome Brazilian Gaucho, a pampas cowboy. OK, as far as I can figure, a pampas cowboy is a cowboy who works on the grasslands of Brazil, but I [and the internet] could be wrong. If so, perhaps Mauro will let us know. Mauro has the blog Realizações em/Actualizations in Porto Alegre, or Observing Reality And Its Impact On People, From Porto Alegre RS, Brazil. You can check out his blog here. He offers different views on a variety of subjects, from political to literary.

In other news, SIRPAUL has just released a new collection of mixes for his latest music here. He also sent a message that he might have a new look. Can't wait to see it! Christopher Dallman is getting ready to release a new EP, his first in a couple of years. And Westlife is going to release a new CD at the end of November, though there is rumoured to be a single release in the next 2 weeks. And Eric & the Adams are in the studio recording new music for a release by the end of the year.

Live Music - Aiden James & Christopher Dallman in SF,CA

Aiden James has a show tonight at 07:00 PM. He is playing at the Dolores Park Cafe in San Francisco, California. Christopher Dallman will be opening for Aiden at this show. Pardon me, because I am just a tad bitter I won't be at the show, but I am sure I will get over it. Only because Christopher promised to make his way east, and do a show with Aiden I can attend. I will hold you to it, boys!

Happy Birthday Christopher Dallman

Today is Christopher Dallman's birthday (thanx for the tip, Casey Stratton)! Christopher has been quite busy, working on a couple of EPs, a new song that was just released, Anthem, and his first music video, Over My Head. Christopher shares this special day with several other talented folk, like Jason Alexander, Julio Iglesias, Mickey Rooney, Kip Pardue [he's adorable!], Ray Charles, and The Boss, Bruce Springsteen.

I am a fan of Christopher's, enjoying his music and his amusing tweets [@chrisdallman], and can't wait to get a chance to see him perform live in concert. The reason I know I wanna see him live? Great music always intrigues me, and a couple of videos I found on YouTube. This is Green Camero, a song from his first album, Race The Light.



And this is one of my favorite songs off Race The Light, Driving In To You. And by one of my favorites, I mean one of the eleven songs I love. They are all fantastic.

Tour News - Aiden James Fall 2009

The adorable and talented Aiden James has announced some dates for a tour, and on some of the California dates, he will be playing with the gifted Christopher Dallman. I have talked about both these artists on this blog, and since I know some of you live in CA, I have to say you would be nuts not to catch them. I, of course, been pestering both to play a show near me. I've seen Aiden several times live, including a recent show in Philadelphia, and he is fantastic. In that performance, he showcased several new songs I loved, including Gonna Hurt More, recently posted on YouTube.



The following is a screencap of the schedule thus far. There are a couple of shows in San Francisco, and I believe Christopher Dallman is opening for Aiden. I have yet to see Christopher live, but I hope to very soon. With the release of new material, including the gorgeous Subterranian I posted about here, and the video for Anthem I posted about here, I am keeping my fingers crossed a tour is in the offing.

New Music - Christopher Dallman - Subterranean

Christopher Dallman just released a song from his upcoming EP. The song is Subterranean, and it is just beautiful. I have been a fan of Christopher's since I purchased his 2003 CD, Race The Light. I was a little late to that game, only picking it up about 2 years ago, but have been patiently waiting for new music, and lately, Dallman has been prolific. New Purchase - Christopher Dallman - Anthem

Christopher Dallman has released Anthem, a song for marriage equality, this afternoon. This is an issue near and dear to Christopher's [and my own] heart, as Christopher and his boyfriend would dearly love to be married, but the passage last year of Prop 8 pretty much prevents them from sharing their love as a joyous expression. But it also leaves a residual that is bitter to taste. I mean, can over half the population truly believe it is not disrespectful of the institution that Elizabeth Taylor could have 8 marriages and King Henry VIII can have six [some of whom he beheaded to avoid a messy divorce], but gay taxpayers, coworkers and family members are told they can't marry the person they love because that would destroy the institution as we know it? Christopher sings, 'Brother of mine, it's just a matter of time.' His words ring true to me.

The single is available at Bandcamp, and you can pay what you would like [there is a $2 minimum for purchases]. At iTunes, you'd be paying $1.98, without the bonus of knowing half the proceeds from Anthem will be going to Human Rights Campaign for the battle for marriage equality.



Christopher is excited about this and upcoming projects. "If you like this song, please spread it around! Play it for your friends, email it, tweet it, share it on your Facebook page! As an independent musician, I rely on your support!" New Video - Christopher Dallman

Today Christopher Dallman released the video for the song Over My Head, his first video ever. The song is one off his CD Race The Light, but will be used as a B-side for the new single Anthem which will be dropping in the next few weeks. I really like Over My Head, and love the video. I am a Christopher fan, and have been eagerly awaiting the video and new music.

Great Music - Christopher Dallman

A few years ago, I purchase Race The Light from CD Baby almost on a whim. I listened to a preview of a few of the songs, and decided I liked it. Boy, I am glad I did. Christopher's music is intensely personal, and very beautiful.



He is in the studio working on a new CD, and I am excited about it. Until that comes out, he posted a couple of videos he called The Living Room series, doing covers of a couple of songs, including the Prince song, When You Were Mine.



From his first CD, you can find videos for his songs Green Camaro and Driving To You. There is also the first installment of the Living Room series, Hard To Breathe.

A King Remembered - Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

Michael Jackson was an incredible talent, and his talent as a singer, dancer and writer will live on for generations. While he is the antithesis of what I am covering here, the King of Pop versus the indie folk/pop/rock singers. But I have heard many of them covering his music live, and can hear their respect for his gift.

One of my favorite covers has been Chris Cornell's version of Billie Jean. It is the performances of Jackson's music by others that will prove to be his true legacy, the celebration of his talent by others.
