Great Cover - Stewart Lewis Hide & Seek

In continuing my weekend of my favorite things, I am including Stewart Lewis, the very talented and handsome singer/songwriter/novelist covering the Imogen Heap song, Hide & Seek. It is beautiful. He has two full ablums and an EP, and has written two novels, Rockstarlet and Relative Stranger. He was also part of the Rock The Folk OUT tour.

Great Cover - I Will Survive

Just what the world needed in 1997, a new cover of I Will Survive, only this time, sung by the angry white str8 guy. He is turned loose on the song, complete with electric guitars!! That said, I love this version by the band Cake. It is from their second CD, Fashion Nugget.

They did another cover on Fashion Nugget that I really loved. Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps was a song written in 1947 by Cuban artist Osvaldo Farrés. Needless to say, Cake put their own spin on it.

You can find out more about Cake on their official website here.

Great Cover - My Lovin' - Tom, Mara & Sam

Apparently Tom Goss sang this song in his youth in Kenosha, WI, with his brother. Now as amused as I am to think of this, I had to give the video a watch. Tom performs En Vogue's My Lovin' with Mara Levi, an out lesbian singer from DC, and Sam Hensley is also based in DC, a Christian folk/rock musician.

For more information about the artists, you can find Tom Goss here, Mara Levi here, and Sam Hensley here.

Party Time - Paolo Nutini Cover

Paolo Nutini is a new favorite of mine, and I thought his cover of Amy Winehouse's Rehab deserves to be part of the Saturday night festivities. This is a fan video captured at a show at Carling Academy in Glasgow, Scotland, his native land.

He did the song as an encore, and it is fantastic. Enjoy!
