Ever wanted to make it in the movies?

I first heard about Fox Atomic, and their involvement in SL, when a good friend of mine called Ina Centaur informed me of a competition they were running for best SL photo. For anyone who has not heard of Fox Atomic, they are a sub-division of Twentieth Century Fox, responsible for such upcoming motion pictures as "The Hills Have Eyes 2" and "28 Weeks Later".

In the photo contest, the photos had to feature one of 4 free avatars that FA were giving away: A zombie from "28 Weeks Later", an American Football Player from "The Comebacks", and a Mutant and an Army Solider from "The Hills Have Eyes 2". This led to me flat on my back across the bonnet of a police car, looking like a bullet riddled zombie, while strangers gathered around my prone body, and a camera went click. It also led to Ina winning second place, and the resulting picture being plastered across the Fox Atomic Website (http://www.foxatomic.com)

It was only when looking at the website that I realised there was something called "Fox Atomic Island". A click of the link and I'm into SL, and investigating the virtual film studio they have built on their purpose designed SIM. Special fixed sets of all of the aforementioned films are placed around the Island, so you can stage your own Zombie Invasion, or score that touchdown, or chase down those pesky mutants. There is also a film studio, where you enter an empty hanger, and by clicking a box, rez yourself up a Wild West scene, or jungle landscape for you to play in. There are even tools to turn your SL role playing into little mini films, examples of which can also be found on the Fox Atomic website. Oh, and those free avatars are still available, even though the contest has ended, so that you too can be a famous zombie... just like me...
