Terrorist Attack on New Citizens Plaza

Terrorist Attack on New Citizens Plaza today

By Wesley Regenbogen

Today another terrorist attack happened.
This time the New Citizens Plaza was the target area.

Many bombs were fired upon the New Citizens Plaza.

I was a witness of the event and numberous so-called "R2 Bombs" were fired on the plaza, with many people present at the time of the attack.

Nobody had an idea what was going on and people were frightened and tried to figure out who or what caused this to happen.

Too bad I wasn't able to take any screenshots of the attack itself.

With many people remembering the real life attacks of 9/11, many people were really scared.

Most likely the SLLA was behind this attack , but that is only a hypthetical thought.
No-one has a clue who is responsible for this attack.

Wrong Heading

Just another weird day for me in SL. I was trying on bathing suits for a beach party when my head went on backwards. I tried stop animations, redressed and then even thought about calling in a Priest like in the Excorcist...but nothing worked. I finally had to relog and my head went back to normal. Has this happened to you...? Let me know about your unusual Avatar aborations.

News Reporter Almost Killed!

Yes, I (Bryan Dix) tried it, but something went wrong. A short in the electric chair almost killed me. They owner said it had just been serviced...yeah, like I believe that! I'm OK now after taking on some oxygen and a laxative pill, but I had to change my underwear and jeans.

Serial Killings!

An undisclosed number of killings have occured in Transylvania (209, 16, 31). This small gothic village is know for its vampires and other night creatures but this series of killings has even shocked the local residents.

The last killing was discovered in the street by this reporter. Blood led the police to a side alley behind some buildings...

...where another bloody murder was discovered. Apparently the serial killer had been at it for some time as dumpster nearby was full of chopped up Avatars. Was this the work of an insane vampire??....I think not..too much blood left unsucked!

SL : A Brave New World!

Trying to come up with a subject to talk about in my first article with SL Newspaper, I resolved to walk around. I grabbed my camera, my recorder and went out. With luck I could find some bombastic happening and really impress my chief editor. Instead, I walked, walked and walked...and didn't see anything newsworthy.
A bit tired, I noticed I was in front of a pub owned by a friend. I put the camera and recorder on the counter and asked for a lemonade (in hot weather, a cold beer would have been better, but I was working after all). Enjoying my lemonade and wracking my brain trying to think of a subject to write about, I was surprised by a strange creature rez'ng in front of me: half a meter tall, soooo ugly (you know the character Smeagol in Lord of the Rings? This guy was worse.). It came over and started talking and waving its arms as tho it were crazy, and I couldn't understand a word it was saying.
"Calm down! What's wrong?", I asked, and offered him some lemonade.
Swallowing the drink, he said, "I just came into this crazy world and I'm totally lost! Please, help me...or I won't survive here. I have no idea how I got here...everyone I approach runs away, and no one will help me."
Taking pity on him, tho I didn't blame others for running away...this guy was horribly deformed. I tried to think of some means to help him. Perry was his name, and he seemed a pretty decent sort of person once you got passed the looks. I remembered Orientation Island, the maternity ward of SL and thought of Help Island where all the wonderful LL helpers are supposed to be to aid poor sould such as Perry.
"OK friend, I'll tp you to a help island, the starting point for sl." "TP?" , he asked. I had forgotten the abreviations we use here would be unfamiliar to such a newbie as he. So I explained."Teleport?" , he asked."OK," by now I'm beginning to lose patience with this whole mess, "Just click accept when you get a message on your screen asking you to join me
So, off I went to Orientation Island. Boy, that brought back memories, my first hurs in sl stumbling about trying to make this new body move. When I got there several newbies surrounded me, "Hey, where did you get your clothes?" How can I get out of here"...the questions were endless I nearly forgot my ugly friend Perry.
Patiently, I walked with them all (Perry was just one of many by then) through each stop on Orientation Island. They were delighted with my attention and with the possibilities which awaited them in SL.
The point I'm trying to make here is that I spent 2 hours with these people and now Perry is more prepared to explore Sl. What I don't understand is why Linden Helpers can't do just what I did? It didn't take a great deal of effort and was extremely rewarding. And to my new friends : Welcome new residents, to a world made for all of us. Welcome to this Brave New World.

Servers Powered By SL!

Why are the servers failing so much?. Maybe it has to do with the Lindens' attempt to generate electrical power inside SL to run their servers. Here were a few installations I found in Sl tied directly to the SL Power Grid:

An attempt by the Lindens to generate electricity to power their servers in SL. In this case the engineers neglected to put paddles on the water wheel. It developed about 9 volts and was abandoned.

Another 'MEGA Power Generating Station' installed by the Lindens in SL. No wonder the servers have been slow lately. This one produces enough power to light two 60 watt light bulbs!!!

A slightly more efficient use of water, but still able to only power an 8k modem...thus the lags in SL.

A pilot program by Philip Rosedale (CEO Linden Lab) to power Second Life with wind turbines. He notice them in Holland and brought them to SL. Many servers are now attached directly to these marvels.

These are now being installed everywhere and linked together to produce even more internal electricity (as long as the wind blows in SL)

The very latest in wind technology. The lindens are finally getting some power from the wind that blows constantly in SL
