Yes, there is life underwater in SL ...

Exploring SL really brings new surprises each day. You never know what you will find. In one of my runs after a good story, after a good place to talk about, I heard of people enjoying an "underwater way of life." It sounded to me to be an interesting subject so here we go Ross!
Gathering information about it, I heard of a club called "Underwater Love". People seemed to be very excited about it, so I decided to take a look. Upon arriving, I found myself above a building in the sea (or something like that; I can't exactly say what it was). People were diving into the water around me. I'm not a very good swimmer, so I was a bit aprehensive: I wished I had scuba gear at hand, but it was too late for that. So, I just held my breath and jumped in along with everyone else.
I samk to the front of the club, still holding my breath until some guy told me, "Hey buddy, that's not necessary" You're safe here!" A bit suspicious, I slowly released my breath and discovered he was right...in SL you CAN breathe under water.
I entered the club to the most fantastic scene I've seen in awhile...people dancing, great rock and a live DJ playing, and an outrageous octopus floating in the air in the middle of the club. Zach, the host, welcomed me, "Hey Ross, welcome to Underwater Love, the Wettest and Wildest club in all of SL." A more acurate statement he couldn't have made.
The club was packed with people. I wondered how someone came up with the idea, but it seemed to be popular with the customers. I asked the owner, Trust Kovacs, and he explained it to me.
"People are tired of the everyday common clubs in SL..." he said, "... so we tried to provide them with something new. Liz, my partner business, came up with the idea from listening to "Underwater Love", by Smoke City Band.
I have to confess, it turned out to be a very good idea. The club is different from most other clubs I've seen in SL, and this opinion is shared among all the people that were there. Besides a great ambiance and great music, there is one person who takes the spotlight: DJ Jade Atlantis. She is a talented individual; combining a wonderful array of mixes and interaction with the guests. Undoubtedly she is the main attraction tho there are other things to draw customers as well. Underwater Love features contests that offer prizes of up to $2000 Linden and are great fun to participate in as well. Tomorrow they will have live music featuring Toed Up, a British band, starting at 2pm.
So come check it out and enjoy the fun if you don't mind getting wet. As Zach says, "GetWet, or goooo home!". This turned out to be one of my most enjoyable assignments so far.

Guitarist Missing!

This was the last picture taken of Wingback Durham, a member of the Goose Rock Band. He was supposed to fly in for a Rock Concert on an Island in Bali, but never appeared. The other members of the Band fear he may have been struck by a 747 as he flew south.

The end...................

So no it wasn't an april fools as some speculated.............................. goodbye lavapit

The most dangerous place to be???

The truth is out the Pit is definately being swallowed by the lava that gave it its name.

Do we run and hide - NO we PARTY like its the 1980's (I just hope someone has an evacuation plan in force)

That's right everyone say goodbye to the Lavapit in 80's style and if it gets too hot ..............

RUN!!!!!!!!!!!

The cages and poles are open to anyone today so we can heat it up in our own way as we say goodbye to the best club in SL. So if you haven't anything better to do or even if you do make this the best party ever for all our friends at the pit - chuck on your old 80s gear and get down here before its too late! Even as i write this the lava is climbing higher outside with the floor feeling hotter by the minute, the steam is rising kept at bay only by the tears of all the people who are going to miss this place!

A sight for sore eyes

Gallery opening at #2 Legacy Tower, Bellatrix

SaGu (Bellatrix) . Patrick Cournoyer and Artis will officially open its doors to the Second LIfe public on Saturday, 14 April, highlighting some of the SL art world’s finest collections by in-world artists.

Located in Tower #2 of the Artisan Gallerias Legacy Towers at Bellatrix (233, 218, 27), Artis' opening comes on the heels of the stunning opening a month ago of the twin Legacy Towers, created by owner and art promoter Jordan Morgenrote.

SL resident Morgenrote, who calls New York her RL home, drew inspiration for her towers from New York's Twin Towers. The two new structures represent an homage to the NYC icons and the diversity of the world's peoples they drew. Here represented through the creativity of SL artists, that diversity is manifest in this stunning collection of art from around the world.

But what appears as a high-tech corporate headquarters from afar, is actually one of the most strikingly impressive art collections in all of Second Life.

Art promoter Patrick Cournoyer of Artis has rallied up a number of very promising and talented artists who will be showing a selection of their work in tower two of the gallery from 14 April. [SL newspaper] managed to get a sneak preview of the exhibition and talked to promoter Patrick Cournoyer and Gracie Kendal, one of the exhibiting artists.

Gracie’s unique collages in paper and acrylic draw inspiration from images in popular magazines and art pieces. For Gracie, Second Life provides a great platform to reach people and get her work out in the open.

Also featuring at the gallery, artist “Filthy Fluno” (aka Jeffrey Lipsky of Boston ) demostrates his wild, energetic pastel and charcoal paintings - which have already been showing at a number of places in real life and are shortly to be shown in France.

For artist Alexia Kline, the exhibition at Artisan Galleria is a first. Her work, a combination of low-key (nude) photography, charcoal, watercolours and chalk pastels, range from powerfully sombre sepia to almost meditative blue pieces.

Further artists to be seen at the Artisan Galleria are French artist Sophie K with her multi-layered photographs and Ayiki Takakura who has devoted herself entirely to the female body.

The grand opening will take place at Legacy Towers on Saturday 14 April at 12 pm (SL time).Of course, the exhibits are also for sale, so you may want to bring some Lindens to purchase some original artwork by very promising talents.
