"Live n' Kickin" at Greenies

On Tuesday January 5th at 9 SL time, the live music show “Live n' Kickin” played on a well-known location: the Greenies’ House.

To those who don’t know, the Rezzabe Greenies sim is one of those sims in Second Life that are truly must-see. The sim is a huge house where one appears to be mouse-sized. Residents see the world as the diminutive alien “Greenies” do, and can find them all over the place exploring around and getting into various mischief. Since it’s construction in 2007, the sim has been added to, including a Greenie store, a roach hunting game, and small club in an old radio sometimes called "Club G."

For this episode of “Kickin,” Delinda Dryssen brought in singer Takamura Keiko and her band the “Shebangs.” A notecard stated Takamura “started out playing Second Life gigs as a hobby. and enjoyed an immensely positive reaction from her audience while enjoying the comfort of their own home. It also gained her a profile on MTV and a social network of other SL-based musicians. That turned her hobby into a vocation.”

The notecard went on to say she had moved to San Francisco, became part of the community of local musicians, and with the encouragement of her friends in Second Life recently began playing at open mic nights. Supposedly Philip Linden was there to see her first performance, “Because of my semi-stardom in Second Life, I’ve started branching out in real life, and it’s been a wild ride.”

And so at 9 PM, the party started with Takamura and her band singing live and loud from the big record player, with the audience dancing on the cabinet shelf and down below. A couple dancers were in Greenie avatars as well, with others in green avatars of a different kind. Nearby, one of the sim’s Greenies seemed oblivious as he listened in an iPod.

So for Live n' Kickin fans, it was truly a unique event, dancing inside a music player instead of just to one.

Tut: The Treasures at Heritage Key

Finally I was able to continue my voyage to the unknown and to land at the Valley of the kings!
After a few misses at the teleports, which are automatic when you enter the teleport circle in the Heritage Key, I reached the oasis where Howard Carter found the tomb of the young king Tutankhamen.
This king died at the age of nineteen so the hastily built tomb found by Howard Carter in 1922 is simple.
You can observe the burial chamber and will find an auditory history at each stop at the tomb. Outside are myriad other tombs you cannot enter but which add to the site itself.
Offices and sleeping tents with artifacts litter the area making it appear as it may have been in those years of discovery.
It is fun to roam looking at the K tombs you wish you could enter.
I spied another teleport entry and after I finished examining the area I walked into the circle (teleport) and was whisked to the Gallery of artifacts.
What an amazing place!
Many of the antiquities discovered in the tomb are displayed in an elegant setting.
The antiquities can be enlarged to see the detail. One can spend a lot of time looking at these elegant artifacts.
The next teleport turned out to be the most delightful.
Cosmic!
Landing at the site of the mask is a treat not to be missed. Then you can opt to wander down a trail of stars to view more of lovely artifacts or just teleport to the end of the journey.
It does finally come to an end… you will teleport to the closing building, Life on the Nile. You may take a survey, decide it is the end or you may opt to begin again by going off to Home.
It was an amazing visit to another world. It makes one wonder how many more we can experience as sites begin to move from second life to …where ? It is never ending I begin to believe.

Tut!! Where are you?

About three months ago I took a landmark from a friend to go see the King Tut Exhibit in SL.
I did go and looked around at the lovely site with all the diggings and displays and was going to write about it but got distracted and never did do the story. Last week I received an e-mail from the Rezzable group notifying me that the whole exhibit had been moved to a whole new world. Wow! That means I have to be a whole new person in an unknown land. OK. I decided that if I can have a second life I can have a third one too. Why not. I searched the website and found that
Heritage VE looks very interesting. It was scary to enter a third life but I did.
The first day was not very good because I spent a while trying to get in the front door but finally made it. If you go you will find a very nice home which becomes boring after a while when you keep entering there to the same help area with the tutorial you already know if you are an sl avatar.
As you look at your avatar you will say “OH MY GOD” Help! Well, just wander off down the corridor to the welcome area to pick up some hair, clothes, skin, just do not look too closely ) You know the routine. They have really nice tutorials there to help newbies, but we can go on because we have the skills to exist from second life.
You see a revolving entryway and you enter you will very nicely teleport to the museum entrance where you can also get a nice outfit for exploring . Now, there ahead is another revolving entry !
Off you go to a new location for a quick tp to the COMPASS! !
From the compass you will take a balloon ride off to the Valley of the Kings The balloon ride is really wonderful as you begin rising above the map of Egypt headed for the Valley.
You can look over the map of the old Egypt as you go but hang on.
My first attempt was met with several crashes and I had to begin the process again from the home base. After some help from Heritage I downloaded a more recent viewer and finally made it to the Valley of the Kings to enjoy the whole experience!

Rezzable to Move to OpenSim, Close Most Sims in Second Life

Rezzable will be moving-on from SL in July. We have decided to close down all our sims on the Second Life grid except for Greenies Home. We will drop Crimson Shadow, Tunnel of Light and Carnival of Doom mid-July. Greenies Lawn is already gone. The Hobo Island is being transferred over to Thinkerer Melville. Black Swan will be deleted from the SL Grid after the Swan Song fashion event closes in mid-August. We will be focusing our efforts on Heritage Key, where we invite you to GoVirtual (VX) with King Tut. We will re-open the Rezzable Grid for people to help us test/improve OpenSim as well as showcase things that work there. We will continue to operate http://rezzable.com and cover metaverse topics and our virtual locations directory.

Heritage Key is a very exciting new opportunity and we really want/need to focus on this. We have a job position open for a designer/builder. We have tried to find ways to make our investment in time and resources profitable on the SL grid, including participating in the SL Gateway program, but at this point we cannot justify further effort. More than 40 sims and 2 years since first opening the Cannery, we are looking beyond the SL grid and see a bright future.

We would like to thank the SL community for welcoming us when we started and putting up with us while we were active. We have had the privilege to work with some of the best builders, scripters, designers and creators. Our sim staff members have been great and they really added the magical ingredient to why so many people have enjoyed visiting our areas. We have hosted tons of events, parties, art shows and general randomness. More than 2.5 million avatar visits have hit our areas. No idea how many freebies we gave out, but some are still/will be setting sims ablaze.

While we have not made the kind of money we would have liked to have generated from our work in SL, we have gained a lot. We have learned a lot. We are glad to have encountered so many truly unique people. We hope to make all our supporters, friends and metaverse enthusiasts proud with Heritage Key, which is a combination of quality content, unique virtual online experience and web community.

Rezzable Search for the 12 best SL Machinimas

Rezzable is searching for the 12 best Machinimas made in SL.
From now till September 30th this blog is open to people nominating who -they think- is the best 12 to be represented in the upcoming Machinima Festival. Machinimas eligible for consideration are those that have been made between September 1, 2007 and September 30th, 2008 taken in Second Life.
So yes this means new, just released machinimas are eligible.
On September 30th, the nominations will be narrowed down to the top 24, where then voting will take place by YOU in deciding which 12 will participate in the festival.

End of an Era, What really happened to the Dinos........

A few weeks ago The Relay Raiders SLRFL clothing fair was in serious trouble they needed sims to host this years fair.

Now as we all know Callie Cline introduced then to Rezzable what many don't know is the trouble Rezzable went to to enable them to give them the sims they needed:

Acid rain showered down on the dinosaur skeletons, meteor showers left brighly coloured trails in the sky as the rainbow coloured Mothership came crashing down on to the sim.

A huge blinding ball of light engulfed the sim as everyone watching gasped, then as the explosion subsided they could see the round colourful, almost translucent, ship stuck in the ground and all around was naught but a barren wasteland and a ship.

The Greenies had landed!

unfortunately destroying the beautiful Liberty sim with their landing.
